My pacemaker is beginning to run out of battery and I have to attend the hospital approximately every six months for a check up. One of those appointments was for today. Jet and I were ready for our pickup. I am so lucky that my dog walker can often help out and today was one of those days. Jet in a crate to keep him safe along with her dogs and off we went. She drives a van so getting in and out is somewhat of a challenge but we have sussed it getting in at any rate near my home. I live on a small hill and providing the car is parked up the hill getting in is a doddle. All in and off we went. The downside to our journey were the many animals dead on the road. I hate to see this.
Arrived at the hospital and just as I was about to get out of the van a gentleman came up to Jan asking for help with his rottie. i must tell you that the van has pictures of her and her rotties along the side so he knew who was driving. I grabbed him and asked if he could lend me his arm which he kindly did. Out and then into a chair and off to the relevant department. It was the first time I had ever seen a service dog with their owner and it was a good feeling. Kindness from everyone.
Return journey to the main entrance but only after I had managed to buy a few books from the kiosk to read later.
A bit of a hard slog to get back into the van but I managed it after being told in no uncertain terms there is no such words as “cant do it”. Suitably chastened I almost leapt in. That’s an exaggeration but you get my drift.
All in all an enjoyable day.
